I know it's not next week but I needed to share.
This is because I finished painting the shed, which is actually a brick garage.
The bricks are those awful 1960s salmon-coloured ones, the sort of salmon colur that owes more to Kit-e-Kat than John West.
I painted them dark grey to match the big Colorbond shed alongside and while they'll never make Home Beautiful, the whole garage/shed combo looks a lot better.
It's a bastard of a job, painting brick walls: fiddly, takes ages and makes you ache in muscles you didn't know you had.
So I was really pleased when I finished and it looked great and I couldn't wait for my husband to get home from work so I could show him.
So he arrived home and he looked at it and he pointed to the top right-hand corner and he said, "You've missed a bit."

How come men can't keep their mouth shut? could he not have said nothing and then just take upon himself to just fix it when you were not around?
Did the paint stirrer have splinters? I have just split from my husband of 25yrs, who just knows everything about fixing stuff and, of course, any single time that I might be inclined to indulge in a bit of non-kitchen work, you can bet your boots that the Reno King had a bit of advice.
Hahahaha! I laugh at your pain become I'm sadistic and evil. I'm also a safe distance away from you.
I'm going to get your husband a megaphone for his birthday. Distance = survival.
Actually, it was very funny once I'd got over the sobbing and the exhaustion.
hope you had a great mothers day! I had a lovely time with my two girls... and to end it we had a glass of wine!!!
Thanks Birgitta.
What, no pictures! I'd pay to see that.
Maybe next time...
Um, I've done that to my husband when he'd finished some finickity paint job - "Oh" I said, "Did you miss that bit on purpose?"
No wonder he thinks I'm an old chook!
Wasn't that a typical MM remark! I empathise with you totally, Michelle. I find a day or two of silence works wonders for the next couple of do-it-myself jobs!
Anon, maybe you should go round and have a word with Eleanor...:)
Michele, I'm having withdrawals - where are you? I know you're busy renovating, but I'm missing your comments. Besides, I want to know if you husband is still alive - oh no, you've done him in with the paint stirrer, and skipped the country.
Hi Suzanne, sorry for neglecting the blog, have had heaps on lately: renos, mouse plague, trip to Perth to see son who's been really ill with chicken pox (I wouldn't wish adult chicken pox on my worst enemy, it's diabolical). Normal service will resume next week :)
PS: husband's chest has healed and we're both praying we don't come down with the pox.
ok i can nderstand adult chicken pox, has anyone out there had to deal with glandular fever?
I have 18yo daughter with it who ended up in hospital because of a rash that seems to be meningococcal nearly. are there any words of wisdom or advise? everyone i know says its nothing but a fever. Spare me please, we have not slept for 5 nights, eaten or drank much fluids in that time and as a consequence of it all going worse she is now in hospital.
by the way michelle, i was missing you and i do understand what you are going through. hope all is well.
Please give your son my deepest sympathy. My poor boy had chicken pox at 16. He was thoroughly covered from scalp to feet, and it seemed like he had really bad flu.
PS Thanks for taking the time to reply ;)
hey michele..who ever said a parents (hoping to be politically correct) is ever done???
Hope your son is on the way to recovery. i have a friend who had it at bout the same age, took him a while to get over it.
I have a daughter in hospital with glandular fever (fever what fever) sadly she has huge rash and they are trying to figure out whether its meningococcal or meningitis. good side is she is ok at the moment while we wait for results
I haven't been able to get to my computer for the last couple of days - Birgitta, I hope your daughter's OK, you must be terribly worried.
