reading the brochure it says 'my baristas must make 32 perfect coffees in 16 minutes or they don't get the job' that means 2 per minute, i do not think that is possible, if so it must taste like dishwater. I love my coffee, only have 2 a day and the rest is tea, seems i need the caffeine to wake up and get going. I honestly don't think making coffee or any other beverage should be rushed. I agree with you about tea, when i ask for one its like ' you want a what? ' and more often than not its a cup with a tea bag. Once i asked for hot water and popped my own tea bag into it and got some weird looks, at least i got what i liked.

Ah Michele, I've finally found something we are not compatable about. Coffee is my thing. I absolutely refuse to return to a coffee shop that serves up crap. In fact, I much prefer my own at home - strong espresso with a splash of milk and a half jigger of hazelnut flavouring. Heaven in a mug.
Tea is OK but it has to be green or chai. Very weak, no milk, no sugar.
Agree with you about the barista wank though. Can't believe these guys take themselves so seriously.

I find the smell of coffee quite undesirable too. But I don't drink tea though. Lorna does. So it's not really that much of a nana's drink then if us young hip people drink it... while talking to my nana actually. Damn, you're probably right.

Have fun with your cafe patch.

But what I don't understand is how cafe's can charge the same amount for a coffee as what they can for tea. Hot water and a tea bag takes far less effort than a flat white. Very few places serve leaf tea. I was especially disappointed at the Hyatt's high tea, tea bags. Meh.

Michelle, does "meh", like, annoy you?

Michele, I'm a coffee drinker, but actually, I prefer the smell than the taste! Walking past a coffee shop and breathing deeply is pure pleasure. I went to Aroma Belmont with my daughter today, and asked for a long black. I think they worry that you'll complain about weak coffee, because I reckon they give you espresso strength in a cup cup (as opposed to an espresso "medicine glass" cup). Like Brigitta, I only drink 2 a day, and really enjoy them. Next time I'm down in Albany, I'll check out the cafe strip.

I love the nut clusters, can't stand the Turkish Delight.

Why use a man with such a totally slappable, smug git face?

Baffling!

Jeez, Gail, and there I was thinking you were perfect. To be honest, I'd love to love coffee, it's just all the nonsense that goes with it that gets up my nose.
Bilby, who's Lorna?
Birgitta, since I gave up smoking three years ago I haven't been able to touch Twinings, whereas before that I was personally responsible for the steady growth in the Irish Breakfast market. These days, it's single origin Ceylon (there you go, a bit of tea wank).

Anon: I used to love high tea at the Hyatt. Once interviewed Debra Hutton there (she had the most stunning face and a real love of the f word - a lovely and very entertaining person), also Maina Gielgud (Sir John's niece)who insisted we move to a more private location ie a cavernous conference room. She was very aware of herself, a total pain.
Suzanne: let me know when you're coming down and i'll shout you a cuppa.
Not Waving But Drowning: wow, a comment from OS (as they say in the classics). Thank you for dropping by, I love your blog, have been meaning to leave a comment for ages so will head over there now.
