Things I won't hear in my lifetime

"Hi, this is your dedicated garden path person.
"I just wanted to let you know that the price I quoted for the job is firm and inclusive of absolutely everything to do with garden paths.
"There'll be no nasty surprises.
"Yes, honestly. Absolutely. Swear on a road accident. No need to worry about a thing.
"Have a lovely day."

"I honestly thought you were genderless" is something you'll never hear in your lifetime... and probably don't want to :P

Have a nice day :)

Sounds like someone is leading you up the garden path? If so I hope you gave them the what for.
Can I be of any assistance?

Birgitta, if you've got a gun I wouldn't mind borrowing it. The guy's a nasty, lying little prick. We're off to consumer affairs tomorrow to file a complaint. Thanks for your kind offer, though.

Sorry no gun, but i can still do a little karate chop or kick to cause some pain.
The only thing i can offer when dealing with consumer affairs is to have everything documented, keep a copy for yourself in chronological order, have a summary of facts and keep calm (easier said than done).
Personally i do not like nasty lying little pricks.
Good luck, let me know how it goes.

Is he's what you say he is, are you sure he is not a French insurance agent lying low after one con trick too many?
We have consumer affairs offices here....but they are whitewash bureaux for what passes for commerce here.

Good luck at Consumer Affairs. Maybe we'll see you on Today Tonight!!?? By the way, I think "morally deficient" is a good way of describing these sorts of people.

Thanks everyone. I had an awful day yesterday because of this bloke, was very depressed. So much for the great seachange. Living the dream, my arse (hope you're reading this Fly :)). We actually talked last night about returning to the city. Feeling a lot better today after writing a blog post about it. It will be up shortly. Will let you know if anything comes out of the complaint to consumer affairs.
